Tilts at $1,000 [?]
You'll only be charged if this tilts.
1 Start Simply start a campaign by setting an amount, a brief description, and a few details. Then you can begin collecting money!
2 Share Link your campaign to a reddit thread, or tweet, post, and email anyone to instantly harness the power of your network.
3 Tilt If the campaign tilts, the cards are charged, and you receive the funds. If it doesn't tilt, no one is charged a cent. :)
Tilt and reddit are testing out a collaboration to provide redditors an inexpensive, universal fundraising experience for everything from local meetups, to redditor-initiated objectives, to non-profit causes.
We're actively seeking feedback on this pilot. You can email [email protected] with thoughts, suggestions, and feedback anytime. We, the Tilt team, are working closely with the reddit team so this feedback can easily be shared with them as well.
The tilt amount is the minimum amount needed for the campaign to be successful. If this amount is not reached, the stated objective will not happen, and nobody's credit card will be charged.
You can feel free to use this as much or as little as you'd like, but in our experience, the tilt amount helps to get contributors to share the campaign with their frenz.
Luckily, campaigns can raise money waaaaay beyond their tilt amount, so the campaign keeps going until it ends on the stated date on the campaign page.
No. We're providing this platform for free to redditors. The only fee charged is a 3.0% credit card processing fee from our payments processor. See below.
If you would like to support Tilt's engineers, gummy bears and bacon can be sent to 370 Townsend St., San Francisco CA 94107.
Yes, a 3.0% credit card processing fee is added to individual contributions to handle transactions in a secure and safe manner.
However, debit card transactions are free!
There are several things we do to check the identity of the campaign admin, and follow up if we notice any inconsistencies. One of our German engineers blows his whistle and throws up a red card any time he sees something fraudulent.
For campaigns where money is sent to an individual and not a non-profit, we require all campaign admins to log in through their Facebook profile, so put on your "research hat" if you want to double check on the person you are sending your money to.
Tilt verifies all registered non-profit fundraisers, and we disburse payments directly to each non-profit organization.
For campaigns that are not for non-profit, charitable organizations, Tilt will make efforts to verify campaigns and their beneficiaries for causes that raise more than $1,500, but we ask that you use your best judgment and common sense to verify the validity of a campaign before contributing. If you suspect fraud, please contact us at [https://support.tilt.com] (https://support.tilt.com) to report the campaign.
You can contact the admin directly through the "Contact Campaign Admin" button on the campaign page in case you have any questions specific to that campaign.
Yes! Contributions to registered US non-profits in good standing with the IRS (labeled as "Verified Non-Profit" on the campaign page) are tax-deductible.
You will receive a receipt from Tilt and our payments processor for these donations, as well as a basic information on the non-profit.
The funds raised for verified non-profits do not go to the individual(s) that started the campaign but go directly to the organization from our payments processor. The funds never pass through any Tilt accounts and is made directly available to the non-profit.
Yes. We will let you know once a campaign tilts as well as when it ends.
